Surprise! PS2 Classics?

In lieu of seemingly nothing (although that may just be me being out of the loop so long), Sony has released several PS2 games for download. Much like their pretty sizable library of PSone Classics, these are billed as PS2 classics:
  • God Hand
  • Odin Sphere
  • Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
  • Odin Sphere
  • GrimGrimoire
Certainly a diverse list. I was especially pleased to see God Hand among them:

Not exactly a cheap game. The others on the list can be found for right around 10 bucks used on Amazon.com though new copies of Ring of Red are listed as around $80. The PSN version will run you $9.99. Not bad!

This seems to be a good move for Sony since they canned PS2 emulation a while back. Originally I was going to write this article about how Sony, as much as I love them, seem to arrive late on a lot of things. However, I didn't necessarily consider sales of PS2 games and not to mention a booming aftermarket.

Hopefully we'll see more PS2 titles in the future! Sony's PSone Classic library is a strong one complete with critical darlings like Vagrant Story and blockbuster titles like Final Fantasy VII. I think we'd all like to see a similar library of PS2 gems!
